Rivers Administrator laments: Everything was looted in LG offices

Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas. has exposed the shocking scale of looting and vandalism in local government areas, particularly in Khana and Eleme.

Speaking in an interview, he lamented that government facilities were completely ransacked, with essential equipment stolen or destroyed.

“The entire place was looted—generators, office materials, almost everything is gone,” Ibas disclosed, painting a grim picture of the aftermath.

The destruction has crippled basic services, leaving many communities without electricity, water, and functional government operations.

Ibas expressed deep concern over the impact on residents, stating, “This level of damage has made it extremely difficult to provide necessary services to our people.”

The vandalism has not only disrupted daily life but also set back development efforts in the affected areas.

Calling for urgent action, Ibas appealed to community leaders and residents to join hands in rebuilding the damaged infrastructure.

“We cannot fix this alone—everyone must take responsibility in protecting public property,” he urged.

He emphasised that preventing future attacks requires collective vigilance and cooperation between the government and local stakeholders.

Despite the setbacks, Ibas reassured the public that restoration efforts are underway. “We are committed to repairing these facilities and ensuring services return to normal,” he said.

However, he stressed that long-term solutions depend on community involvement to deter further destruction.
