A widow, Ngozi Okonkwo Ike and her daughter Ebere Okonkwo Ike, from Amechi Idodo in Nkanu East L.G.A of Enugu State, has accused actress Patience Ozokwo of land grabbing.
In interviews, with several videos going viral, the widow accused the actress of grabbing the only land her late husband left for her and two daughters.
In the videos, one of her daughters, Ebere said Patience Ozokwo should be held responsible if anything happens to her mother.
She further claimed that Patience took the only land their late father left for them because her mother has no son.
She added that her father’s kinsman whom her mother begged to help them look after the land went behind them to sell the land to Patience.
She said they only discovered this when her mother wanted to sell the land to get treatment for her leg only find out that they could not.
The videos circulating show the widow standing on crutches and her leg twisted from the ailment.
However, Patience responding to the accusation, said she bought the land in 2010 and recently discovered that the same people who sold the land to her are trying to take it from her.
According to her, she brought the land from a middleman who brokered the sale.
In a video shared by Patience Ozokwo, the middleman said the widow’s late husband was his kinsman, and after he died, the widow approached him, begging for help to sell the land so she could get medical treatment for her leg and also bury her late husband.
He said that when he could not get a willing buyer, he called Patience Ozokwo, who was abroad at the time, and asked if she was interested in buying the land and the widow willingly sold to the actress, with him as the middleman.
Patience accused the widow and her daughters of “blackmail, fraud, with malicious intent.” She said she will be going to court to prove her innocence.
