They took my blood every month and transfused into a dying mother, Libya returnee narrates ordeal

Mercy Olugbenga, a lady who was deceived and trafficked Libya, has stated that she suffered terrible abuse and dehumanization while working for a family as a maid.

In an interview with Arise TV, Olugbenga said she was locked up for a year, dehumanized, and secretly used for blood transfusions without her consent.

She said, “I was locked up for a year. In my room they lock the door before going out, they lock the outside door and the gate before going out.”

Mercy said her job was supposed to be taking care of her employer’s mother in addition to handling house chores. However, she later discovered that her employer’s mother had kidney problems.

She said, “I was originally there to take care of their mother, apart from the house chores. But along the line I got to know that their mother had kidney issues.”

Mercy explained that every month a nurse would come to the house and draw her blood, something she initially believed was just part of normal health checks. So within that period, every month they bring a nurse home to draw my blood. I thought it was their normal routine.”

Mercy said she later discovered that her blood was being transfused to her employer’s sick mother without her consent. She said when she resisted, the family beat her up.

She said “So later I got to know that my blood matches with their mom’s and they were transfusing my blood to her. So I decided to voice out, I told them they can’t be withdrawing my blood for someone and along the line they started beating me.”
