CRPP Condemns attack on ADC secretariat, Odigie-Oyegun’s house

Thanks Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP) has condemned in totality the attack on Tuesday on members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), during the meeting of members at the secretariat and former Governor, Chief John Odigie Oyegun’s house.

The chairman said the incident was outrageous and uncalled for,

According to the coalition, Edo State is not known for this kind of act.

In a statement signed by Dr Samson Isibor, Zonal Chairman of CRPP, said the attack has given the coalition a cause for concern. “We condemned the government in the state, the government is required to protect the citizens and not to witch hunt, intimidate opposition members,” he said.

Isibor said the beauty of democracy is to have pluralistic political parties in the country instead of one party or trying to eliminate opposition parties. “We are advising the APC government to stop all these brigandage, this will scare away investors from the state. Allow opposition to exist,” the statement added.

Recall, suspected thugs invaded the Secretariat of ADC shortly after Olumide Akpata , the former Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate in the state and presidential candidate in 2023 election Peter Obi and other dignitaries had left the venue to Chief John Odogie-Oyegun’s compound for a brief stop over. Akpata had defected from the LP to ADC.

The attackers allegedly injured many supporters of the party.

Eyes witnesses said the suspected thugs who came in several vehicles allegedly move from the secretariat to Chief Oyegun’s house where the dignitaries were having meeting and shattered the classes of the vehicle parked outside the house.
