Political sin won’t lead politicians to hellfire – Oshiomhole
Former Edo Governor Senator Adams Oshiomhole, on Monday, that political sins can’t lead anybody to hell fire.
Oshiomhole, who represents Edo North in the Senate, was speaking during the All Progressives Congress (APC) state Congress in Benin City. He contended that political sins are normal in politics and will not take anymore to hell.
While speaking on the fued between him and the APC chairman, Emperor Terret Tenebe, Oshiomhole said he (Tenebe) may have committed sins against him but now he was forgiven, given the fact they have made up, adding politicians are bound to commit sins, but will not lead them to hell fire.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North in the National Assembly, has said that political sinners cannot go to hellfire.
Oshiomhole, speaking at the Edo State APC congress on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in Benin City, said, “Political sin cannot lead anybody to hellfire.”
The former governor of the state was responding to a call by the newly elected state chairman of the party, Jarret Tenebe, who appealed to those he offended to forgive him while serving as acting chairman of the party.
He contended that political sins are normal in politics and will not take them to hell.
According to him, Tenebe may have committed sins against anybody, but now he has been forgiven. Politicians are bound to commit sins, but they will not lead them to hellfire.
“Jarret said all the sins he has committed should be forgiven. And I said he who does not sin does not belong to this planet earth. This earth is populated by sinners. For sinners who weep, ask for forgiveness in the way he has done. But to be honest, political sinners don’t need to go to hell.
“Political sins can only grow around a moment and then they just get dissolved. So, Jarret, you are brand new, staleness like a mint,” he said.
Meanwhile, Tenebe and his team who were return unopposed and affirmed by delegates from the 19 local government areas of the state, endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Monday Okpebholo for second term in office, citing what he described as their outstanding performance.
The delegates of the party from the 192 wards across Edo State on converged at the Sir Victor Uwaifo Hub, Benin City, in a unanimous voice affirmation, returned the 36-member state executive, led by Tenebe, for another four-year term.
In his acceptance speech, Tenebe said the re-elected executive had formally endorsed President Tinubu and Governor Okpebholo for second terms, noting that both leaders have demonstrated strong performance and improved the lives of Nigerians and Edo residents.
Tenebe also announced the endorsement of former Edo State governor and senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Oshiomhole, for a second term in the Senate, citing what he described as quality representation.
“This unanimous voice affirmation is a call to duty, and we are ready to discharge our responsibility and ensure the party continues to put Edo people first, while supporting the governor to sustain his developmental strides in the state,” Tenebe said.
He commended delegates for their trust and overwhelming confidence in the executive, pledging that the team would pilot the affairs of the party to greater heights. Tenebe also thanked party faithful for their unwavering support, which he said helped the party weather challenging periods and remain united.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter, one that has already become a model and reference point for other states across the federation. We have been handed the baton of leadership, and the race ahead is a marathon that will span the next four years,” he added.
Tenebe noted that the period coincides with the implementation of Governor Okpebholo’s SHINE Agenda, which he described as a transformational blueprint aimed at repositioning Edo State for sustainable development. He maintained that the APC remains fully committed to supporting the successful implementation of the agenda.
The Chairman of the National Congress Committee, Hon. Kabiru Ajana, said the committee was mandated to conduct elections into the 36 vacant APC executive positions in Edo State.
According to him, the exercise demonstrated unity within the party, as all 36 positions were returned unopposed after the screening process, with no appeals received.
