25 Killed, 4 Injured in another armed attack on Bassa community in Plateau

No fewer than 25 individuals were confirmed dead and four others wounded following a brutal armed attack on Kimakpa Village in the Miango District of Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, around 2:45 a.m., leaving the community reeling in grief and fear.

According to intelligence sources, the assault began when a group of armed men stormed the village, unleashing a hail of gunfire on unsuspecting residents. Panic ensued as locals sought safety, prompting several to alert security agencies about the grave situation.

In a prompt response, a combined team of troops from the Nigerian Army, led by the Sector Commander, alongside the police and the Police Mobile Force stationed in Miango, rushed to the scene.

Engaging the attackers in a fierce firefight, security forces managed to repel the assault, though the damage had already been devastating.

A subsequent search of the area revealed the grim aftermath of the attack, with 25 lifeless bodies recovered from the village.
The injured victims were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical care.

In the wake of this tragedy, security forces have initiated a manhunt for the assailants, conducting extensive combing operations in the surrounding forests.

Additional troops have been deployed to reinforce security in the area, aiming to prevent any further violence and restore a semblance of calm to the shaken community.
