Bandits ambush security operatives, kill 9 vigilantes in Zamfara

Nine members of the Askarawa vigilante group have been killed in an ambush by some bandits operating in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The bandits were said to have launched an attack on some joint security operatives who were returning from a successful operation on Saturday, March 22.

The report said the joint security operatives had earlier achieved great success after engaging some criminals in a gun battle

However, while returning from the successful operations, the vigilantes were ambushed by another group of bandits in the area.

Reacting to the incident, residents of the community have condoled with the families of the late operatives.

They also commended that bravery and committment to protecting the lives and property of the people of Anka.
