Beheaded corps member was abducted, not gospel singer’s girlfriend – Family member

The 24-year-old NYSC member, who was beheaded by a gospel singer, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, was not a girlfriend to the artiste.

The family of the girl has come forward to set the record straight, contradicting earlier reports that suggested Ele was the singer’s girlfriend.

Eliojo Salomey, a young woman from Nyanya, had left her home to visit her boyfriend of six years in Karu. However, she never arrived at her destination. Instead, she was found to have been abducted by the gospel singer, who was later caught with her severed head in a bag.

The family vehemently denied the claims that she was the singer’s girlfriend, describing Ele as a decent and innocent young woman

The gospel singer, Ajayi, was arrested after a bike man raised the alarm over the suspicious contents of the bag. When questioned, the singer allegedly confessed that the head belonged to his “girlfriend.” However, the family has vehemently denied this claim.

A family member revealed that Ele may have been drugged, and that the family is still trying to piece together the events leading to her tragic death. The perpetrator was later taken back to his home in Orozo, where he had buried Ele’s body.

The family is now waiting anxiously for the singer to regain consciousness, hoping that he will provide more information about the circumstances surrounding Ele’s abduction and murder. As the investigation continues, the family has appealed to the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time.

This horrific incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and the family is still grappling with the loss of their beloved Ele. The case serves as a grim reminder of the dangers of abduction and violence, and the importance of ensuring justice is served for the victims and their families.

Meanwhile, a new perspective has been added to the incident. The Nasarawa state police command, later identified the victim as Eliojo Salomey, a 24-year-old serving National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) member based in Mararaba, a community near Abuja.

The command’s spokesperson, Nansel Ramhan, disclosed to the press that the unfortunate incident happened on Sunday evening, January 12, 2025.

According to Ramhan, Ajayim, who lives in the Pablana area, was caught around Angwan Bako near the Kaja Estate in the New Karu local government area of Nasarawa state when conveying the severed head of Salomey to an undisclosed destination on a commercial motorcycle, popularly known as ‘okada’.

The police spokesperson added that the state police commissioner had ordered an investigation into the matter. “They raced to the scene and rescued the suspect from being lynched. The suspect was then taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment. A follow-up investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at the suspect’s residence, where the remains of the lady who was later identified as Eliojo Salomey, 24 years old of Yanyan, FCT, Abuja, and a serving Corp member, were recovered,” he stated.
