Capt. Owen refutes report of him against Rivers Administrator
Retired Navy Captain Emmanuel Owen has refuted reports in the media that he has resurrected issues that led to his early retirement from the military under Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas (retd), then Chief of Naval Staff.
Owen had alleged in 2022 that Naval authorities denied him promotion twice and he was unjustly retired from the military for allegedly exposing corruption in the Navy under the former Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ette Ekwe Ibas.
In an open letter to the then President Mammadu Buhari, titled, ‘’An Open Letter To The President And Commander-In-Chief of The Federal Republic Of Nigeria,’’ Owen had alleged victimization.
He complained that he was denied promotions for about 20 years for his stance against corruption in the military.
However, Captain Owen said Wednesday that he has put that behind him as he habours no animosity towards Ibas then or now that he has been appointed the the administrator of Rivers State.
Owen said any report currently in the media concerning the incident is not from him, and should be disregarded.
