Church elder stabbed to death while preaching over allegations of immoral affairs with member’s wife

Elder Francis Opiyo, 35, of the Ebenezer SDA Church in Homa Bay, Migori County of Kenya, has reportedly been stabbed to death by a member of the church over alleged adulterous affairs with his wife.

Opiyo was reported to be rounding off a mini-sermon, about handing over the microphone, when his attacker struck.

The attacker, whose identity is yet to be ascertained, had come to church with a knife hidden in his Bible, ready to settle a grudge.

Worshippers at Ebenezer SDA Church in Homa Bay, Migori County of Kenya, were stunned to see incident play out.

According to Francis’ elder brother Joseph Opiyo, the brother preached well and was in the process of concluding his session and handling over when his assailant struck.

The elder said the man just removed a knife he had hidden in the Bible, and stabbed Francis’ left side of the chest.

“He neither knew that the colleague had hidden a knife in a Bible nor his intention.

“His colleague stabbed him to death,” Joseph said.

“The assailant’s wife was not in the church but he accused my brother of being her lover.

“He had been suspecting them although nobody had clear evidence of the suspected relationship,” Joseph added.
