Known for her wild criticism of Nigeria and her cultural heritage, Badenoch has faced a backlash.

Amid growing internal dissent, the United Kingdom’s Conservative Party is reportedly considering replacing her with looming losses in next week’s local elections.

According to a Bloomberg report, over two dozen Conservative members of Parliament have expressed doubts about Badenoch’s ability to lead the party into the next general election, expected by mid-2029.

Sources within the party said she has focused on the wrong priorities during her six-month tenure, causing a disconnect with voters and contributing to the party’s declining popularity.

With the Tories bracing for major setbacks in the upcoming elections, senior figures are believed to be pushing for a change in leadership, potentially installing Shadow Justice Secretary Robert Jenrick. Jenrick, a prominent right-wing figure, has advocated for consolidating the conservative vote and minimizing electoral threats posed by Nigel Farage’s Reform UK party, which has recently outperformed the Conservatives in multiple polls.

Badenoch, a British-Nigerian politician known for her opposition to what she terms “left-wing nonsense,” has centered her leadership around culture war issues, deregulation, and identity politics, especially her country of origin, Nigeria.

However, critics within the party argue that she has failed to present concrete policy proposals, weakening the Conservatives’ credibility as a viable alternative to the ruling Labour Party.

Labour, under Prime Minister Keir Starmer, ended the Conservative Party’s 14-year grip on power with a resounding electoral victory last year.

Now, with Reform UK threatening to eclipse the Tories as the dominant right-wing force, the pressure on Badenoch’s leadership is intensifying.

The Conservative Party has yet to make an official statement regarding a potential leadership change.
