Drone bomb attack destroys building in Kwara hours after Trump announced US strike on ISIS terrorists in Nigeria

A video currently trending online has shown the wreckage of a building in Offa, Kwara State, hit by relics of a drone bomb attack hours after United States President, Donald Trump announced the US military carried out airstrikes against ISIS terrorists in Sokoto State.

Residents confirmed that they heard loud sounds after which a building was hit by a drone bomb. In the video, residents filmed the destroyed building and the relics of the drone bomb.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities have yet to confirm if the attack was launched separately or if it is just fragments from the Sokoto attack.

Recall that the Nigerian government earlier on Friday confirmed ongoing security and intelligence cooperation between Nigeria and the United States following airstrikes that hit terrorist targets in Nigeria’s North West.

According to a statement released on Friday and signed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, Kimiebi Ebienfa, Nigerian authorities remain engaged in “structured security cooperation with international partners, including the United States of America,” to address terrorism and violent extremism in the country.

The airstrikes come after weeks of warning by President Trump, urging the Nigerian government to take urgent steps to stop the alleged genocide of Christians or it would be forced to do it unilaterally. Trump also redesignated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern.”

Although the federal government denied the claims that there is an ongoing genocide against Christians in the country, it has since held high-level security talks with the US officials in a bid to address the concerns raised.
