DSS interrogates Abubakar Malami over attack
The Department of State Services (DSS) has questioned former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, following the recent attack on his convoy in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
Malami’s convoy was attacked on September 1, 2025, by suspected political thugs, shortly after he returned from a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief Imam of Dr Bello Haliru Jumu’ah Mosque. The incident sparked political tension in the state, with rival supporters trading blame.
In a statement shared on Facebook on Monday, Malami confirmed he honoured the DSS invitation and said he was fully cooperating with the investigation.
“I can confirm that I have been invited by the Department of State Services, DSS, to support investigation over the attack on my person and convoy in Kebbi State on the 1st of September, 2025,” he wrote.
The former minister alleged that opposition political figures in Kebbi instigated the petition that led to his interrogation.
Despite this, he commended the DSS for the professional manner in which the matter was handled.
“I was treated with dignity and respect, and I remain committed to cooperating fully with the Department to ensure that their investigation is concluded successfully,” Malami added
