Edo Reps member resigns from LP, aligns with ADC…gives reasons

The member representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency, Murphy Osaro Omoruyi, yesterday said he decided to dump the Labour Party (LP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) because of the intractable crisis rocking the party.

Speaking to journalists on Monday, the lawmaker said he was leaving the LP to pitch tent with the ADC to rescue Nigerians from the regime of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Providing insight into his political journey, Omoruyi explained he has remained loyal to the LP, the party he rode to the House of Representatives despite the challenges it has faced recently

However, he said not withstanding the protracted crisis, he has remained committed to the core responsibilities of lawmaking and oversight functions and ensuring that his constituency is heard on the floor of the Green Chamber.

“You will recall that in February 2023, I was overwhelmingly elected by my constituents under the banner of the Labour Party (LP) to represent them at the National Assembly. Ever since, I have remained committed to the core responsibilities of lawmaking and oversight functions and ensuring that my constituency, Egor/Ikpoba-Okha is heard loud and clear on the floor of the Green Chambers.”

“In addition to this, I have also remained a loyal and committed party man. This fact is evident to the point that I was referred to as ‘The Last Man Standing.’

“All these is to buttress my stanch support for the Labour Party.

“However, inspite of all efforts, the intractable crises rocking Labour Party has made my continued stay in the party, practically impossible,” he explained.
