EFCC to arraign VDM over cyberstalking, fake, says EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has debunked the story that it arrested VeryDarkMan (VDM) for cyberstalking allegations, and to arraign him in court soon.

A source within the anti-graft body described the story that has appeared on several platforms on Monday as “fake.”

The source said the Commission’s Spokesman, Dele Oyewale, did not speak with BBC pidgin English

The story had said that EFCC has confirmed that popular social media activist and critic, VDM, will soon be charged to court following his recent arrest.

Speaking to BBC News Pidgin on Monday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale revealed that VDM was taken into custody in response to multiple petitions filed against him, primarily bordering on allegations of cyberstalking.

His words: “We arrested him to respond to a series of allegations raised against him by some petitioners.

“We will release him when he meets the bail conditions and we will take the case to court as soon as possible. We are law-abiding.”

However, the EFCC said this is not true as Oyewale never spoke with BBC News.
