Former NYSC Director,Prof Abhuere tasks youths on investing in education

The Director and founder of the Centre for Child Care and Youth Development Centre (CCYD), a non governmental organisation, Abuja, Prof. John Abhuere, has tasked youths to invest their time in education for a better tomorrow.

Prof. Abhuere advised them to maximize their time towards a better future by being focused rather to spend time on unprofitable ventures.

The former Director with the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) gave this advice while sending forth an intern with the Centre, Benedict Maikayo, who just gained admission into the university.

Prof. Abhuere, while commending Benedict for his dedication to assigned roles during his stay at the Centre, encouraged other youths, to always make impact in wherever capacity they find themselves.

“When Benedict came here with school certificate I asked him to enroll for JAMB and he did. Today, it is a good story,” he explained.

He asserted that the Centre, though not a profit making organisation, was able to raise the sum of N100, 000 to aid Benedict’s smooth entry into the higher institution.

He stressed that because he was enthralled by Benedict’s dedication to the Centre, he met friends of the house who graciously made donations towards the course.

Abhuere pledged a personal yearly grant of N100,000 to Benedict until he leaves the university.

“As far as I am concerned, and as far as I am alive I will assist you with N100,000 every year until you graduate from the university. This is because of your resilience and hard work while here. We are delighted that you gained admission into the university through the Centre. This is to encourage you to do more,” he said.

Prof. Abhuere noted that the Centre was primarily set up to aid youths in educational pursuit. He explained that Benedict is the eight person the Centre had helped to gain admission into higher institutions, and the Centre had also extended help to four undergraduates.

He thanked those who contribute. According to him, Hon. Greg Egwu, Chief Cyril Amako, AVM Atawodi, Dr. Ikane Sam, Dr. Emeka/Chika, including himself, made handsome donations to the purse.

Benedict, while thanking the Centre for the gesture, expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to be a product of the CCYD.

He expressed gratitude to all the donors for their concern in his welfare. He promised to put in more effort in his academics, and not to disappoint those who took interest in his education.
