Furious Dele Momodu reacts after Wike dragged him on Channels TV

A fiery exchange between Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and Dele Momodu, a veteran journalist and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, has ignited a fresh controversy in Nigeria’s political sphere.

The confrontation unfolded during Wike’s live broadcast of on Channels Television on Friday night hosted by Seun Okinbaloye, spotlighting the growing rift within the PDP and Wike’s contentious influence.

The clash began when Wike, addressing Momodu’s criticisms of his political maneuveors, disparaged the journalist’s 2023 presidential bid. “He ran for president, but he didn’t get one vote,” Wike remarked. “We don’t need to talk about Dele Momodu, that one doesn’t have anything it takes apart from eating food anyhow in a bad manner,” he added.

Momodu fired back via Instagram, labeling Wike an “uncouth and uncultured local champion” and suggesting his outburst stemmed from excessive alcohol consumption.

He recalled past instances of support, including granting Wike a platform to respond to an interview with Nnamdi Kanu and covering his infrastructural achievements in Port Harcourt during his tenure as Rivers State governor.

“No one has a monopoly of madness,” Momodu wrote, accusing Wike of ingratitude and reckless behaviour.

He has since demanded a right of reply on Channels TV to address the minister’s remarks directly.
