Greater Edo as Commissioner for Works inspects several roads construction in Edo South

The Edo State Commissioner for Works, Dr. Felix Ehiguese Akhabue JP earlier this week embarked on the second phase of onsite inspections of ongoing road projects by the Governor Okpebholo-led administration across the Edo South.
The Commissioner said Okpebholo-led administration envisions a state that is opened up through interconnectivity of roads.
This is in efforts to link rural areas with the urban, in a developmental strides which will the put the state in good stead for agriculture revolution.
The first phase of this exercise, took place on the 22nd of January 2025, where the Commissioner, Permanent Secretary, Project Directors, Project Monitoring Team of the Ministry of Works and members of Press, visited nine roads, including the popular legacy Ramat Park and Adesuwa Junction Flyover Bridges.
One thing common with all the sites inspected is the quality and resolution to deliver on good times as already assured the Edo people by His Excellency, Senator Okpebholo.
According to Pst Jude Isibor, Media Director to the Commissioner for Works, in a statement, the road projects inspected during the second phase include; reconstruction of some failed portions on the 23.2Km Benin-Sapele-Warri Road with Continuous Reinforced Concrete Pavement (CRCP) by CBC; reconstruction of Benin-Sapele-Warri Road Section 1 Phase 2, totalling 10.08Km. The project is being undertaking by the CCECC.
Also, the Commissioner visited the construction of Uhie Road, off Benin-Sapele Road by RODNAB; construction of internal roads in Ogheghe and old Sapele Road with Hydrology Structure in Benin City in charge.
Others road projects inspected are the construction of Evbukhu – Sapele Road with surface and underground drainage system undertaking by BRASS CONSTRUCTION; one side dualization of Ogba-Evbodia-Evbovbioba-Irhue-Upper Ekehuan Road with bridge across Ogba River Phase 1 segment 1 by GLADTRICO; construction of Mechanic Road linking Upper Erhunmwunse Road by IDC CONSTRUCTION; construction of Okpagha-Amufi Road by GEECOM, among others.
The Commissioner asserted that true indicator of any meaningful society that is inclined to rapid development is the attention given to infrastructure, top of which is road network.
Roads play a crucial role in connecting people, goods, and places, serving as the backbone of modern system. Whether highways or small streets; roads enable transportation, making it possible for individuals to commute, businesses to deliver goods, and communities to stay connected.
The administration of the late Professor Ambrose Alli’s vision for roads as the Governor of the defunct Bendel State (1979–1983) was centred on opening up rural areas, fostering economic growth, and connecting communities to urban centres. His administration, often remembered for its rapid development, viewed rural infrastructure as a necessary tool for uplifting the populace and bringing development to the grassroots.
This administration, no doubt, has keyed in to that vision.
The totality of all Alli achieved is summed up in the SHINE AGENDA of Governor Okpebholo-led administration. It’s very obvious that the state is in for the best in the history of Edo State, as new and greater Edo is rapidly emerging.
