Gunmen abduct Navy officer, family in Kaduna
Gunmen have allegedly abducted Nigerian Navy officer, Seaman Olatunji Enoch, along with his wife, Margaret Olatunji and their 13-year-old daughter, Hellen Bitrus at Unguwan Mission in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The incident, which occurred at approximately 2am Wednesday has heightened fears of escalating insecurity in the region.
According to sources, the gunmen stormed the residence of Seaman Enoch, who is attached to the Nigerian Navy Secondary Armament Training (NNSAT) in Kachia, overpowering any resistance before fleeing with the family.
The motive behind the abduction remains unclear, and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Security forces have swiftly responded, launching a manhunt to apprehend the perpetrators and rescue the victims.
Ongoing cordon-and-search operations are targeting surrounding bushes and known hideouts in a bid to secure the safe release of the naval officer and his family without harm.
The abduction underscores the persistent challenge of banditry in Kaduna State, prompting renewed calls for enhanced security measures.
