How I was abandoned by APC, friends, when I was removed as national chairman – Oshiomhole

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor of Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, ononday, narrated how he abandoned by friends and the party immediately he sacked as the national chairman in 2023.

The senator representing Edo North disclosed that he was abandoned by leaders and members of the party when he was removed as the national chairman of the APC.

Oshiomhole made the disclosure in Benin City during the commissioning and handing over of 54 construction equipment to the 18 local government chairman in the state.

He said as APC national chairman, he won the presidential election for the party but “I was abandoned when I was removed”

“When I was dismissed I became lonely and I was abandoned by my party and and the people”

Oshiomhole said “during the period, people were even afraid of visiting him because they could be termed anti-party.”

He said in his loneliness, he got a call from the FCT Minister Nyeson Wike, as then the Rivers State Governor on the platform of the People Democratic Party (PDP), “inviting me to come to Port Harcourt to commission projects even when he (Oshiomhole) was abusing PDP”.

According him, that single honour from Wike rekindled his hope and bounced back in politics, saying Edo will show gratitude to the minister.

Also speaking, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyeson Wike, advised Nigerians to beware of emergency democrats who are coming to deceive the people.

Wike, who was apparently referring to the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC), said some people while not in office they could come out to the streets buying corn, which they have never done since they were born just to get votes.

“Now you are doing what you haven’t done before by buying corn from the roadside sellers just because you want to deceived the people”.

And now they are claiming to be democrats and man of the people, only because you want to deceive the people” he said.

He said as the emergency democrats are deceiving the people, President Bola Tinubu is busy commissioning projects in FCT and other places.

He said as a PDP member, he couldn’t challenge the FCT election results because he knows that what the president has done earned his party APC victory in the local government election.

“That is why we (PDP), came second in the election and it is better to take second than to fail.

According to him, with the FCT election Nigerians now know which party is the ruling party and the opposition party

He said politics, when one lay foundation well, the sky is the limit, saying it was his performance as local government chairman that made him rise in politics.
