How we repelled Boko Haram attack on Nganzai station – Borno Commissioner of Police

The Commissioner of Police Borno State Police Command, CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal has commended officers under his command for their resilience in repelling Boko Haram insurgents who attacked Nganzai Police Division on Thursday morning. He condoled with the families of two officers who lost their lives.

A press statement signed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Kenneth Daso on Thursday evening, said the insurgents came in large large number to attack the station but policemen stood their ground and repelled the terrorists.

Recall, an unspecified number of firewood scavengers in the Gwoza local government area of the state were killed, with other sustained injuries as a result of the explosion after the attack.

“On 9th January 2025 at about 12:10 am, unknown gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram Terrorist attempted to invade Nganzai Police Division, gallant officers who were on watch repelled the terrorists, after series of exchange in a gun battle, the terrorist threw hand-grenades which unfortunately landed on a shelter tent behind the division, and fatally wounded two officers.

“During the scene assessment by the Commissioner of Police, two hand grenades were recovered by EOD – CBRN Base 13 Maiduguri, The body of the deceased have been taken to State General Hospital Maiduguri.

“The Commissioner of Police commended the gallant officers who stood their ground to prevent the attack and condoled with the families of the two officers who lost their lives.
