Husband beats mother of four to death in Abuja
A 34-year-old Chibuzor Aloh, a mother of four, has reportedly died following a brutal assault by her husband of ten years. The incident has left the community in shock
Witnesses said, Hasan Yusuf Taiwo, the husband after the assault, left Chibuzor unattended.
The alleged domestic violence occurred in Zone 9, Lugbe, the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to neighbours, the couple had been cohabiting for a decade without formalizing their union through traditional rites.
Reports indicate that Taiwo had a history of physically abusing Chibuzor, often over minor disagreements.
The latest altercation reportedly stemmed from a dispute over a phone charger, during which Taiwo allegedly beat Chibuzor, causing her to hit her head against a wall and lose consciousness.
It was their children who alerted neighbours to her condition. Despite efforts to revive her and administer self-medication at home, Chibuzor’s condition worsened, and she passed away before getting to the hospital. Taiwo reportedly fled the scene upon realising the severity of the situation.
Chibuzor was known in the community for her industriousness, engaging in small-scale businesses such as snack making and laundry services to support her family.
Neighbours expressed outrage over the incident, highlighting the prolonged abuse she endured. The family is calling for justice, urging authorities to apprehend Taiwo and ensure he faces the full weight of the law.
The Federal Capital Territory Police Command has confirmed awareness of the incident.
Public Relations Officer ASP Miriam Yusuf stated that an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Chibuzor’s death. The police have assured the public that justice will be served upon the conclusion of their inquiries.
