ISWAP releases execution video of Nigerian soldiers

The Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, has released a video showing the execution of three, alleging to be Nigerian soldiers.

In part of the video seen by SaharaReporters, the soldiers were shot dead by the insurgents with guns.

The incident, Sahara Reporters learned, occurred on March 15th, 2025, in Yobe State.

The soldiers were alleged to have been captured in the Kamuya and Azare areas of the state.

The video showed the three men kneeling in a field and introducing themselves as members of the Nigerian security forces before masked men in fatigues opened fire on them.

Since the death of JAS leader, Abubakar Shekau, ISWAP escalated its activities around Lake Chad.

The sect’s membership has swollen with the defection of hundreds of Boko Haram fighters under Shekau.

The terror group has caused over 100,000 deaths and displaced millions of people, mainly in Adamawa, Borno, and Yobe states.

There has not been any official statement from the Nigerian army.
