Kidnapped Kaduna village head found dead in bush

The decomposed body of Yuda Garba, the village head of Dagachi Hamlet, who was kidnapped on March 11, has been discovered in a bush near Takula, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Recall, he, along his two grand children, and a man whose wife just gave birth – still in the hospital – were abducted when armed men invaded their homes.

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF), FCT Command, said last week that it arrested five suspects linked to the kidnapping of the village head of Dagachi Hamlet, Yuda Garba, along with five others in Ungwan Pawa Dnako Village, located along Igu Road, Abuja.

It was reported that around 6:30am on March 11, a group of 15 armed assailants invaded the village and abducted the victims.

Intelligence sources revealed that a joint team of police officers, hunters, and vigilantes was promptly dispatched to the area, where they conducted a thorough search of the surrounding bushes.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the villagers had recently sold their farmlands, leading to the arrival of suspicious individuals believed to be Fulani settlers in the area.

As part of the ongoing operations, five suspects, identified as Abdullahi Idris, Tambaya Idris, Haruna Tukur, Umar U. Haruna, and Nasiru Haruna, have been apprehended in connection with the crime, said police of the Abuja command.

Meanwhile, efforts to rescue the kidnapped victims and track down the remaining suspects are being intensified.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the villagers alerted authorities to the presence of a body in the Nomadic Forest near Kuyeri, on the border between Kaduna and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Security personnel were swiftly deployed to the scene alongside community members, where relatives identified the remains as those of the abducted village head.

Authorities reassured residents that ongoing investigations aim to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
