Kidnappers Kill Anambra chief despite N15m ransom payment
Nimo community, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, is in derp mourning following the brutal killing of a respected community leader, Ogbuefi Ozo Nnanyelugo, by gunmen who abducted and killed him even after collecting N15 million ransom.
Chief Nnanyelugo, a senior member of the Nimo Royal Cabinet and elder statesman, was kidnapped while working on his farm.
Eyewitnesses said masked gunmen stormed the farm, scaring away workers before seizing the High Chief at gunpoint.
The kidnappers later contacted his family and demanded a ransom. Despite the family reportedly paying N15 million, the chief was killed and his body dumped in the same farm where he was taken. His remains, bearing deep machete wounds to the head, were found hours later.
“This is barbaric and senseless,” one eyewitness said, describing the pain and shock that has engulfed the community since the discovery.
Security forces have since cordoned off the area, and investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest the killers.
However, the Anambra State Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the incident.
