LG chairman leads security operatives to battle bandits in Niger State forest

The Chairman of Rijau Local Government Area in Niger State, Hon. Danladi K. Uganda, was spotted in full military camouflage while leading Nigerian Army personnel into the forests of Rijau an area plagued by persistent bandit attacks.

According to a statement posted by his Media Aide, Muhammad Sale, on Friday, July 19, 2025, the chairman took the bold step to personally join the military and other security agencies in ongoing clearance operations against armed bandits in the region.

Photos shared on Instagram handle show Hon. Uganda walking alongside heavily armed troops, fully dressed in military uniform and protective gear.

Rijau LGA has long struggled with insecurity, with residents facing abductions, cattle rustling, and frequent gunmen raids.

The chairman’s decision to join security forces on the ground has sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians applauding his bravery and hands-on leadership.

“This isn’t just about politics it’s about protecting our people,” Uganda was quoted as saying during the operation. “I cannot lead from behind when my people are suffering.”

His action has drawn praise across social media, with some calling it a model of leadership by example.

Others have urged more public officials to actively engage in the fight against insecurity rather than issuing statements from afar.

Security analysts also noted that such morale-boosting gestures could encourage local collaboration and enhance trust between civilians and the armed forces.
