Mistake by Google Maps naming mosque after Victor Osimhen sparks outrage in Turkey

A mistake by Google Maps, naming a mosque in Konya, Turkey, after Nigerian footballer, Victor Osimhen, has sparked controversy among locals.

The outrage was said to have started after a mosque in Konya, Turkey, was mistakenly listed on Google Maps as “Victor Osimhen Mosque.”

This enraged worshippers who wondered why the Bulut Mosque was mistakenly listed on Google Maps as “Victor Osimhen Mosque,” a non Muslim.

Worshippers were said to have been stunned and drew condemnation from locals, who described it as disrespectful to Islam and the mosque community.

“It’s a shame to name a non-Muslim and make a mockery of it.

“We consider it an insult to Muslims, the mosque community, and mosques themselves,” said Zeki Yaylacı, a member of the community.

The change appears to be the result of unauthorized user edits on Google Maps, and there is no evidence linking Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to the act.

The incident comes just days after the 26-year-old returned to Turkey following a protracted transfer from Napoli to Galatasaray.

Osimhen, who missed the 3-0 win over Gaziantep on Saturday to regain full fitness, has been cleared by head coach, Okan Buruk to play against Karagumruk on Friday.
