NDDC refutes alleged rift between Nyesom Wike, Samuel Ogbuku

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has refuted claims of a rift between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, and the commission’s Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku.

In a statement on Monday by its Director of Corporate Affairs, Seledi Thomson-Wakama, the NDDC labeled the report titled “Uproar in NDDC as Ogbuku, Wike Fight Dirty” as false and misleading.

The commission emphasised that Dr. Ogbuku enjoys a cordial relationship with Wike and other key stakeholders in the Niger Delta.

The statement accused certain individuals of attempting to create division within the NDDC and drag Senate President Godswill Akpabio into a non-existent crisis.

The commission also dismissed rumours that former Delta State Governor James Ibori was seeking to replace the NDDC Board Chairman, Chiedu Ebie.

The NDDC highlighted its ongoing efforts to implement innovative policies aimed at improving service delivery in the region.

It condemned those spreading misinformation, suggesting their goal is to destabilize the commission and disrupt development in the Niger Delta.

Addressing concerns over tenure, the commission clarified that the NDDC Board was appointed for a four-year term beginning on August 29, 2023.

It reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and regional development under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mandate.

The commission urged stakeholders to reject distractions and support its mission to drive progress, assuring the people of the Niger Delta that it remains focused on fulfilling its developmental agenda.
