Operation total: Bayelsa Gov, Diri resigns from PDP, leads Assembly members to APC

Spokesperson to Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri, Daniel Alabara, confirmed on Wednesday, that the governor has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He said in a statement that Diri has resigned his membership of the party.

Recall, Peter Mbah, Enugu State Governor also resigned from the PDP Tuesday to pitch tent with the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Spokesman to Diri stated that the governor resigned his membership of the party along with 17 members of the State House of Assembly.

APC now has 22 members following the defection of the 17 PDP members. If the remaining two APGA members follow suit suo motu, the APC members will be 24 in all, a clean sweep of sorts.

Diri will be joining the APC anytime from now.

The confirmation has ended months of speculations over the sensitive issue of the governor’s defection to the ruling APC
