Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray flops as Napoli turn down offer

Victor Osimhen’s transfer saga has taken a new twist as Napoli rejected an improved bid from Turkey League champions Galatasaray.

It was widely reported that Gala had secured Osimhen’s services for the 25/26 season.

Though, Osimhen had agreed on personal terms with the club he spent a season on loan last season, where he provided 37 goals and eight assists from 41 appearances across all competitions but Napoli are existing on meeting the release clause in his contract.

Galatasaray had tabled €60 million, but Napoli are insisting on the €75m release clause, which Saudi side Al Hilal are ready to pay and offer Osimhen a €40m yearly contract. But Osimhen has rejected the deal.

According to reports earlier on Monday, Osimhen has an agreement in place with Galatasaray over a three-year contract with an option for an additional 12 months.

The Turkish club are confident of landing the prolific striker, who enjoyed a previous stint with them and is reportedly eager to reunite with the squad.

This was disclosed by Turkish football pundit Yağız Sabuncuoğlu in a post on his X account on Monday evening.

According to Sabuncuoğlu, the offer follows Galatasaray’s successful agreement with Osimhen for a permanent transfer from Napoli.

“Galatasaray, having reached an agreement with Victor Osimhen, made another official offer to Napoli, proposing 60 million euros,” Sabuncuoğlu tweeted.

“Galatasaray will hold talks with the player this week to finalize Victor Osimhen’s transfer.”
