Presidency dispels bribery allegations by ADC, describes it as “false, baseless”

The presidency has dismissed the bribery allegations against it by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that President senior person in Bola Tinubu’s government offered it three ministrarial slots to kill the coalition by the opposition parties.

In a valedictory address, outgoing National Chairman and ADC founder, Chief Ralphs Okey Nwosu, on Tuesday, said the federal government allegedly approached him with an offer of three ministerial slots — one for himself and two for individuals of his choosing — in an attempt to kill the coalition.

“They offered me ministerial slots—one for myself and two for people of my choice—but it was all aimed at killing the coalition,” Nwosu revealed.

However, Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Policy Communication to President Tinubu, refuted the claim via a statement on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.

He described Nwosu’s story as “false and baseless,” insisting that only the President has the authority to offer ministerial appointments.

“From his words as reported, you know that he lied — that senior government officials of the Tinubu administration promised him three ministerial slots not to surrender his party to the coalition for a wild goose chase,” Bwala wrote.

“No government official(s) of whatever rank in our government can promise or grant ministerial slots but Mr President,” he added.

Bwala challenged Nwosu to name the officials allegedly involved, saying that a serious allegation such as this should come with specifics. He also ridiculed the party, describing it as an “Association of Disorganised Characters.”

The ADC, which has recently played host to political figures like Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and Nasir El-Rufai into its coalition movement, insists it will continue to push for a credible opposition platform capable of challenging the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
