Security operatives arrest bandit disguised as beggar in Kwara

Security operatives have arrested a bandit who disguised himself as a beggar in Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Elder Oyin Zubair, Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch for Kwara South Senatorial District, confirmed the arrest to SaharaReporters on Wednesday.

He explained that the suspect had attempted to move freely among towns and villages, blending in as a beggar to avoid detection.

“The suspect was caught disguised as a beggar in Igbaja. This is part of a disturbing trend we have noticed,” Elder Zubair said.

“They can also pretend to be mad men in certain areas. It is a tactic they use to escape law enforcement.”

The arrested suspect reportedly revealed the locations of his sponsors, saying they are operating from Kaara Market, Ajasepo, and Olayinka near Oke-Ode.

He reportedly told security operatives that their sponsors operate from Kaara Market, Ajasepo, and Olayinka. “They are the ones directing our movements.”

The suspect has now been handed over to the Kwara State Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS), with authorities promising swift action.

The arrest comes amid intelligence reports that some bandits from Baba Sango and Oro-Ago have begun fleeing their strongholds, spreading into other parts of Kwara South.

According to security sources, these criminals have been using local informants disguised as beggars to scout towns and villages before carrying out attacks or kidnappings.
