Sheikh Gumi alleges kidnapping of students was engineered to justify Christian genocide

Apostle of amnesty for bandits and controversial Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, said the recent spike in the abduction of school children in the country was carefully planned to promote what he called an “unpatriotic narration of Christian genocide.”

The cleric on his verified Facebook page said the situation is affecting children of all faiths.

Gumi said, “The recent increase in spate of school children kidnappings are engineered to serve an unpatriotic narration of ‘Christian genocide’, and sadly for all, also Muslim children are kidnapped.”

The Kaduna-based cleric described Nigeria’s security crisis as worsening, adding, “Insecurity in Nigeria is a burning candle, it will burn out Allah’s willing.”

Sheikh Gumi has been seen with bandits in the northern parts of the country, a move that is widely interpreted as a negotiation for the armed gangs to cease hostilities. However, despite these, bandits are still wreaking havoc in different communities in Northern Nigeria.
