Twist in VDM arrest as actor Stanley Ontop, Seun Kuti allege Mercy Chinwo behind ordeal

Popular Nigerian movie producer, Stanley Ajemba, aka Stanley Ontop, has alleged that gospel musician, Mercy Chinwo is responsible for the arrest of VeryDarkMan.

Stanley Ontop made the allegations in an Instagram post on Sunday while reacting to viral reports that VeryDarkMan was arrested by GTBank.

While accusing Mercy Chinwo of ordering the arrest, the actor tagged Nigerian churches as another government agency that uses the police, EFCC and military to oppress the citizens

“GTBANK is not responsible for VDM arrest at their premises. Mercy Chinwo is responsible for the arrest of VDM.

“Church is another government agency that uses our police, EFCC or military to intimidate citizens. Mercy Chinwo is the problem now not GTBank”.

Meanwhile, Seun Kuti has added to the controversial to the social media commentator arrest, adding fuel to the already heated public discourse

VeryDarkMan was reportedly taken into custody by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja under unclear circumstances. Additionally, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) has been accused of playing a role in the arrest, drawing criticism from supporters.

But the popular Nigerian musician and saxophonist Kuti alleged that the arrest was linked to VeryDarkMan’s comments on a controversy involving an unnamed gospel singer. He shared this information based on what he learned from Deji Adeyanju, who serves as legal counsel for both him and VeryDarkMan.

“VDM’s lawyer is my lawyer, and we are currently entangled in a case with GTB and other banks. There is no bank in Nigeria that is a good bank,” Seun remarked.

He also suggested that powerful religious figures are behind the arrest, targeting VeryDarkMan for his outspoken opinions.

“As Federal government is running our country, all these big pastors dey run Nigeria. The people of God are the ones fighting VDM for speaking the truth,” he added.

As speculation continues to swirl about gospel artist Mercy Chinwo potentially being involved in the matter, especially as she remains in a legal dispute with her former record label boss, Eezee Tee, fingers are crossed to the one behind the arrest.
