Video: Bandits release hostages, lay down arms in Kaduna

Bandit leaders in Kaduna have laid down their weapons in Giwa Local Government, of Kaduna state.

The president of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has charged security agencies, including the Nigerian Police Force and the Nigerian military, among others, to employ new strategies in curbing the rising level of insecurity across the country.

However, in the video posted by Arise News, the governor of Kaduna state, Uba Sani, has reopened the Kidandan market in Giwa Local Government, which had been closed for a decade as a result of insecurity.

This development follows the peace dialogue initiated by Governor Sani to bring about peaceful coexistence between residents of the Giwa Local Government and bandits who had renounced insurgency by releasing their hostages and laying down arms.

According to the video, “Through numerous meetings and extensive discussions, we had built bridges of trust; several bandits had laid down their arms and embraced peace.”
