The Edo State Commissioner for Works, Dr. Felix Ehiguese Akhabue JP has appealed to the Edo people to support the Senator Monday Okpeholo led administration by paying their accurate taxes to enjoy more democratic dividends.

The commissioner said by paying accurate taxes more resources will be at the disposal of the government to work.

The commissioner noted that resources are never adequate to work, except the people embrace taxation. He further expressed confidence in Senator Monday Okpebholo’s capacity to deliver on his electioneering campaign promises.

Akhabue, who made these remarks while inspecting roads across the Edo South senatorial district in these past weeks, expressed satisfaction on the state of the ongoing road projects in Edo South.

The Works Ministry has become a beehive of various activities these past four months of Akhabue’s assumption of office as commissioner, countless meetings with several stakeholders on road construction have been held; top of which are with the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, directors, contractors, members of press, among others.

The Honourable Commissioner in his commitment, assured everyone of Governor Monday Okpebholo-led administration’s readiness to build durable roads across the three senatorial districts, linking all the 18 local government areas.

According to the Commissioner, the governor’s unquantified commitment to making Edo roads the best in the Sub-Sahara is second to none.

The commissioner posited that the 2026 appropriation bill of N939.85billions which the governor signed into law last December, where about 68% is strictly dedicated to capital expenditure, which will effectively drive rapid development, its a clear indication to the governor’s commitment to developing Edo state.

Little wonder it’s tagged “The Budget of Hope and Growth.”

In a bid to further showcase the laudable road projects of the Edo State Executive Governor, Dr Akhabue took members of the media in a tour of Edo South, where they had a direct and first-hand contacts with the contractors of these road projects. It was discovered that this administration isn’t about rhetorics but practical governance.

This same round of media tour will be extended to Edo Central and Edo North in coming weeks.

According to Pst Jude Isibor FIPMA, Media Director to the Honourable Commissioner in a statement; Dr. Akhabue has appealed to the Edo people to stop indiscriminate burning of tyres on major roads. He also warned against “Speed Bumps” by unauthorized persons which often destroy roads, saying this administrationl frowns at such vices.
