Details emerge on how suspects in Anambra LP lawmaker’s killing were apprehended …N100m stolen from account, native, nurse involved

A police source, who requested to remain anonymous, stated that the arrest of suspects involved in the kidnapping and killing of the Anambra State Labour Party (LP) lawmaker, Hon. Justice Azuka, was carried out by security operatives from Abuja.

According to the source, the security operatives arrested one of the suspects, who then led them to the scene where the decomposing body of the lawmaker was found, resulting in the arrest of additional suspects.

The police source said, “A combined team of police operatives from Abuja arrested the suspects who kidnapped and killed the lawmaker. They were arrested in the early hours of Thursday, and they led the security personnel to the location where they had dumped the body.

“It was only after the kidnappers were apprehended that they took the security officials to the site where the body was discarded. The suspects have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for further investigation.

“It was a sad and tragic moment when we discovered the decomposing body of the lawmaker. The body has been deposited at a morgue in Onitsha. The security operatives from Abuja acted on intelligence gathered after receiving reports about the kidnappers.

“The kidnappers who killed him withdrew money from his account before killing him on December 26, 2024. They shot him twice in the head on that date. A nurse living in Asaba assisted them in withdrawing the N100m.

“A native doctor living in Asaba prepared charms for them. Their leader (kingpin) resides with the native doctor in his shrine in Asaba. All six individuals have been arrested, none of whom is over 30 years old. The nurse has also been arrested, and her pharmacy shop has been sealed.

“The native doctor has been arrested as well. All the boys, except one who resides in Oba, live in Asaba. Over three other dead bodies were found alongside Hon. Justice Azuka’s body. The suspects confessed that they typically kill all their victims after collecting money from them.”

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Anambra State Police Command, Tochukwu Ikenga, said he was unaware of the details of the arrests. He confirmed that the suspects were arrested .
