First batch of JAMB result released, urges candidates to check online

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has candidates who participated in the first day of the nationwide examination to check their results today (Saturday).

It announced that it has released the first batch of results for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) before midnight on Friday.

The update is expected to bring relief and anxiety to thousands of candidates who sat for the examination on its opening day, Thursday, April 16, 2026.

The announcement was made in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) by JAMB’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin.

“This is to inform all candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME on Thursday, 16th April 2026, that their results will be released today before midnight,” the statement read.

JAMB also assured candidates that an official announcement would be made once the results are fully processed and uploaded to its system.

The planned midnight release continues JAMB’s recent approach of releasing UTME results shortly after the examination days. In previous years, the examination body has reduced the waiting time for candidates, moving away from delays that once lasted several weeks.

Education stakeholders say this quicker release system has improved transparency and reduced tension among candidates and their families.

The 2026 UTME began on April 16 across various computer-based test (CBT) centres nationwide. Thousands of candidates are expected to participate in the examination over several days.
