176 women, children kidnapped in Kwara beg for help, say it’s their last chance – video

A disturbing video has surfaced showing victims abducted during the deadly attack on the Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, with captives making emotional appeals for rescue as their abductors claim to have “indoctrinated” them.

In the footage, a member of the armed group is heard introducing the victims, stating that they were among those kidnapped during the attack.

He claimed the captives had been exposed to religious teachings while in captivity.

“By the special grace of God, we have indoctrinated them and they have started gaining more knowledge about Islam. They begged us that they want their leaders to hear from them,” he said.

Before allowing them to speak, the captives were asked a series of questions about Islamic teachings, including the pillars of Islam and articles of faith, which they answered in unison.

“As you can see, they have started understanding the religion. So, going by this, you will hear from them as we have given them the opportunity to speak,” the armed man added.

He further described the moment as a “final opportunity” for the victims to communicate with authorities.

“We are giving them a final opportunity to appeal to the government. We believe this is clearly understood,” he said.

The video then shifts to the victims, many of whom appeared visibly distressed and exhausted.

One young woman, speaking in English with a weak and emotional tone, appealed directly to religious leaders and government authorities.

“Dear Muslim sisters and brothers, we are here today. We are the people who were kidnapped from Woro… Please, we are begging you, this is the last opportunity they gave us,” she said.

“We have small children with us and some women are pregnant… Some are sick, some have anaemia. Please help us.”

She added that while they were being taught unfamiliar religious concepts in captivity, their plea remained focused on rescue.

“They are teaching us things we didn’t know before… but we are still begging you. Please, this is our last opportunity,” she said.

Another woman, who spoke in Yoruba, echoed the same desperation, calling on authorities in Kwara and neighbouring Oyo State to act urgently

“They are feeding us and teaching us religion… but we need your help because this is the last chance they gave us. Please help us,” she said.

Several other captives were also seen speaking in different local languages, all making similar appeals for intervention.

The video comes weeks after the brutal attack on Woro community in early February 2026, when suspected terrorists launched a coordinated assault that left dozens dead and many others abducted.

Among those reportedly killed were members of the Emir’s family, the Chief Imam, a school principal, a headmistress, and several students. Buildings were also razed during the attack, while over 100 women and children were said to have been taken into captivity.
