How I monitor my “enemies” – Wike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed that he actively monitors media coverage about himself, including commentary from those he described as his “enemies.”

Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Wike said he personally follows prime-time broadcasts on major Nigerian television networks such as Africa Independent Television, TVC News, and Channels Television to stay informed, rather than relying on aides or intermediaries.

“I watch news all the time, AIT News, I will watch, TVC News, Channels, I watch all of them,” Wike told reporters, emphasising that staying informed firsthand allows him to accurately track public discourse made about him in the public space

The minister explained that his routine helps him remain aware of discussions and criticisms directed at him, a practice he said often continues late into the night. “So you can see that I know the time, even by 12 I still come back to watch everything, I make sure that I watch before I go and sleep,” he added.

According to Wike, personally monitoring broadcasts ensures he receives information directly and maintains a clear understanding of public sentiment, even when it involves critiques or commentary from adversaries.
