OPM founder finds wife for autistic ‘son’ after N10m offer
Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, the founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), has announced the marriage of his ward, Aboy Chibuzor.
The wedding, which took place on March 29, 2026, comes just a day after the cleric issued a public apology for a controversial proposal to “hire” a wife for the young man.
The saga began when the Apostle publicly searched for a woman to marry Aboy, an autistic “son” under his care who reportedly struggles with intense sexual urges. The cleric’s offer of a “paid wife” sparked a massive national outcry, with critics accusing him of commodifying human beings and bypassing professional medical or psychological care
Following the backlash, the Apostle deleted the original posts and apologised, stating he acted out of a “desperate need” to secure the boy’s welfare.
However, by Sunday, the narrative shifted toward celebration as photos surfaced of Aboy wedded to a woman described as a “single woman of God.” To mark the union, the Apostle announced a N10 million wedding gift, a free house, an overseas vacation, and a promised N20 million bonus if the marriage lasts ten years.
Beyond the financial incentives, the Apostle claims a spiritual transformation is already underway, noting that Aboy has begun feeding himself independently. “I believe before 6 months God will heal and he will begin to speak,” the cleric stated, insisting that “there is nothing God cannot do.”
The rapid transition from a public apology to a lavish wedding has reignited a fierce debate online, with many questioning the ethics of a marriage backed by such significant financial rewards.
Reflecting on the initial proposal, Real Estate Agent Zuwas argued that the arrangement devalues the institution of marriage: “Trying to ‘arrange’ a paid wife for an autistic person because of sexual urges reduces both individuals involved to transactions. It risks turning marriage into a service contract rather than a relationship based on consent, dignity, and emotional compatibility.”
The issue of gender and consent remains a primary concern for many observers. @tharealbieye expressed deep skepticism about the bride’s motivations: “I can bet my life that if the reverse was the case he would not offer his daughter for this. Any lady that agrees to this, unknowingly to her, she’s signing into a sexually abused marriage!”
Some pointed out the irony of a “healing” ministry requiring a “paid wife” for behavioral management. Onungene Ezechukwu noted: “I heard that God of OPM has healing power? The best solution is to heal him, not getting him a wife.”
However, the Apostle’s supporters have rallied around the news of Aboy’s improved motor skills as proof of a miracle. PREACHER OLUWASEYE OLUWABUNMI defended the move by citing religious precedent: “There’s no outrage, it’s an offer and he is not forcing anyone to do it, God instructed a prophet to marry a whore, Hosea 1:2.”
