Mohamed Salah agent addresses next move after Liverpool star confirms exit

Mohamed Salah’s agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, has offered a definitive update on the Egypt international’s future following Tuesday’s announcement that he will depart Liverpool
According to The Mirror, speculation has already started swirling regarding Salah’s destination for the 2026/27 campaign, with the forward having been strongly linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League in recent years.

While he was famously the subject of a £150 million bid from Al Ittihad in 2023 which Liverpool rejected, Abbas Issa has confirmed that his client presently has no club arranged for when he exits this summer.

Speaking on the social media platform X, the agent sought to clarify the situation by stating, “We do not know where Mohamed will play next season. This also means that no one else knows.”

Salah will leave Anfield following nearly a decade on Merseyside. The 33-year-old has secured numerous major honours since arriving at Liverpool under then-boss Jurgen Klopp in June 2017, including two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the FA Cup, and two League Cups
Salah confirmed his exit in a poignant statement on his own social media account, which was subsequently met with a tribute from the club. In his message to the fans, the forward noted, “Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”

The Liverpool Echo points out that while the forward penned a fresh two-year deal as recently as April 2025, the confirmation of his summer departure arrives during his least productive campaign since joining from Roma nine years ago.

Despite this dip in form, the club maintains a high level of respect for his contribution. An official club statement, cited by the BBC, explained that “the forward has reached an agreement with the Reds that will see him close a remarkable nine-year chapter at Anfield.”

The club noted that “Salah expressed his wish to make this announcement to the supporters at the earliest possible opportunity to provide transparency about his future due to his respect and gratitude for them.”

According to The Guardian, the club’s statement further clarified that with plenty still left to play for this season, Salah remains firmly focused on trying to achieve the best possible finish to the campaign.

Consequently, the statement added that “the time to fully celebrate his legacy and achievements will follow later in the year when he bids farewell to Anfield.”
